Im like a month or so late posting this but,
Islands of the World Fashion Week Spr 2009...debuted some absolutely amazing pieces from some very talented designers who aren't so mainstream..YET.
Lets take a look ...at only one. lol.

Queen Esther of Kuumba put a very different spin on Afrocentric and stayed away from the traditional prints and took this to a new level. Different&Fierce!


So I have some fashion news for you...As we all, or most of us, know..FASHION WEEK IS COMINGGG AGAIN!!!!
But there are changes we might want to be aware of...
Some designers we usually see will be dropping out of the lavish extravagances of Bryant Park and having their own intimate fashion shows. Such designers are; Betsey Johnson, Valentino, Vera Wang, and Carmen Marc Volvo...(WSJ)

Everything is expensive nowadays for everyone mannn. :(

There are fewer buyers, editors, press attending every yr, ...but Fashion lovers don't you worry..there will be a full schedule because they can replace the empty slots..

Models, time to go hard to get in there. If you are not with an agency, go out & meet ppl, go on MM, Craigslist...sometimes they need extras.

Sorry I took so long to blog, I do apologize

I just been doing some thinking and self analysis lately.
I guess I gotta fill you in on what I mean. Im a different kind of person, I think different, I act different, even talk different.
So I don't understand why it is that it's so hard for other people to feel me and at least attempt to try to look into my world a little deeper than the surface..??

Its hard because I know what it is I want out of my life, I have immediate goals and I have long term goals..but for me, I am at the phase where I'm being tested. God, or whoever tests people, is testing my strength and perseverance to see if I can handle what I dream of. I think thats why its so hard for me at this point to touch what Im reaching after. I can't think of it any other way... Puzzling to me. I know Im meant for greatness, Im DD..theres no Other way..
Over the years, I have my moments where I sit in a room by myself, cut everything off, and I self reflect..((I need to do it soon again)) I reflect on where it is that I currently am, and then where it is I need to go, then what exactly I am doing to get there....
If there is a gap in any of those things..I try to fill the gap.
I love life{to death} but I feel at this point that I am on my own. I am alone, but I am not lonely. There is a difference. It sounds like a bad thing, and yes it is saddening at times, but Im trying to head down this path of positivity thanks to a good friend of mine...
And iM woRkin haRd, or reaLLy trying to, in order to get past this "SpeeD bumP".
Lastly, All that glitters sure is not Effin Gold. Things are not always what they seem.

Barack Obama is the First Black president of the United States of America.
Everything else aside, Who would have thought a couple years ago that we would have had a Black President? Very proud that we have made strides in that way.

Now back to reality,
Lets support the winner and embrace this "change" everyone speaks of so loosely.

He now has to represent all of America and it is not only about us Black people.
Lets be there for him..Lets protest when we need to protest, lets get involved in the political system and now truly try to understand how it is that this system works so that As a nation, we can attempt to make this "Change".

I forsee people getting over this soon and going back to the usual routine of sitting back and complaining about everything we don't have...But Dont! We Cannot!

YOU'RE HERE FOR A REASON...PROVE IT
LEts Step up as a people and fight the fight those before us fought.
Its not up to Obama to change us...We must first change ourselves.

VOTE or die!! Literally?? OMG

Ok So last night My Best friends and I decided we were going to vote at 5:30 Am which turned out to be actually 6Am. Good idea, because Ive been hearing stories that some cities had people waiting in line for about 6 hours..With so many poll centers in NYC, I don't do 6 hour lines. I'm very sorry to say.

When I got to my location, the line was about a block long. I saw sooo many people from the "HooD" that I haven't seen in ages. It was wonderful! People are really excited about this and its beautiful. This should always be this way..(Civil rights leaders of the past would be proud.}}

Our line, moved amazingly quickly. I was in by 6 out by 7:15.
People were acting like it was a free lunch line. Grown women arguing because they thought someone was going to skip them. [[Like what do you think, the "Obama" option will disappear once you get in? The person who skipped you will take the last Obama vote? LoL CmOn}}

Seniors came out in droves, I love old People as all my friends know, so that was wonderful!!

I voted for the first time, and Im glad I did.
My view on this presidential election and other elections that have occured prior to this, is very different.
I heard too many people saying that "I should vote for Obama if for no other reason than him being a Black man." I also heard, "We need a Democrat in the White House now."
--Sure thats an interesting view on things. But does him being a Black man mean that he is FOR the Black people? Does him being Democratic mean he has everyone's best interests in mind??

**Just some food for thought.**

I keep hearing that Obama is going to do so much for our people, or for people in general. He is going to pass all these laws and the favorite term here is "CHANGE".
Ok change is always a good concept.
But how do you know this? I do know there are those people who have studied the history of politics and have seen and mentally recorded the trends in the past. But honestly speaking, as a whole...
A majority of first time voters, (millions) in this 2008 election are not quite sure what goes into this process of creating this change. The President doesn't just get in office and start calling all the shots...Nor do any of his ideas have to go into action...There is this word process.

Personally I feel as though if Obama does win the most electoral votes, he will have the weight of the world on his shoulders. NOT To MENTION, IF FOR SOME REASON OBAMA DOES NOT WIN THE MOST ELECTORAL VOTES, PEOPLE WILL RIOT!
--Yes, you want him to win..sometimes there are tricks and cheating but overall...the U.S does not stop at NY. There are states who are Predominantly Mcain. Lets hope for the best and continue to support our favorite!!

People from all over will be watching, stalking, his every move, waiting to see him "mess up" or "go against his word". Not to mention those supremacists that are opposed to this whole ideal.

No one is perfect. Since I am always impartial I must say,Mcain is a very experienced man with a background worth investing time to learn about. Past what you see on tv, Biden(Dem VP cand.) and Mcain(Rep. Pres. cand.) were friends before all of this.

Face reality and realize that Barack Obama nor John Mcain will bring you all you hope for. Nor will they be perfect, there are lots of outlets that these political figures extract opinions and advice from in order to make their decisions.
They are human. So please treat them as such.

Reason I voted and am thrilled??
--Blacks did not get the right to vote until the late 1960's, early 1970's realistically.
--Women did not get the right to vote until the 1920's.
I exercised my right.

And im happy that you did as well!! Regardless of who you voted for!!!
May the best candidate prevail!!

I got there early (like 10) cuz for some reason i thought it was gonna be a long line..I should have known better. Jamaicans dont get nowhere til like after 1. So i Jammed to my Oldies for hOurs.
